These are Rob’s tips for Turks & Caicos. Rob visited the islands for a destination wedding many years ago and have since been back 6 times! His most recent visit was with his wife and 3 kids (ages 5, 3 & 1).
Any hotels, restaurants or activities especially awesome?
We stayed at Villa Renaissance. These are condo rentals equipped with full kitchen, laundry, etc, so very convenient for a bit longer of a stay. Generally, we find staying on Grace Bay in the area of Regent Village (number of other condo’s/hotels around – can look at Grace Bay Club, Ocean Club West, Seven, Regent Grand among a few others) provides everything for us in walking distance. Great shops, restaurants, activities – and no need to rent a car.
Restaurants: Lupo, Caicos Café, Coco Bistro, The Deck (located at Seven Resort) or Solana (Ocean Club West Resort) are both beachfront, great sunsets/view. Hemmingways is also a nice beachfront option.
Activities: Visitors should definitely snorkel, just amazing reefs, fish, to check out. Paddle Boarding/kayaking is also a great activity. Easy bike/Vespa rentals to explore the island. Provo Golf Club is a great place for a round of golf. We also went with another family out for a half day boat charter with Catch the Wave: email@example.com. This was absolutely fantastic. You can essentially create your own agenda with them – but we stopped at Iguana Island which was fun for the kids, did some snorkeling, beached the boat on a small island and had lunch on our own private beach.
Dislikes/things you would have done differently?
We have not really had any issues here.
Any other tips?
The island is generally expensive – but there is a Graceway/IGA Supermarket walking distance from this location. Great way to pick up some meals/snacks and not have to go to restaurant every time. Wine is one of the more reasonably priced items on the island. For us, coming from the Northeast U.S., it is 3hr direct flight, which makes it much easier for traveling with kids. The Provo airport is also only about 15 mins from most major places to stay – so generally pretty easy to get to. For easy transport, contact: firstname.lastname@example.org
